A new, 74-megapixel, mosaic image of the galaxy from the Hubble Space Telescope was released in January. Dr. Benne Holwerda of the University of Louisville will present “Rubin's Galaxy: A Gentle Giant Spiral Galaxy” on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 3:30 pm EDT, to describe his observations and how the large galaxy provides an intriguing test of the observed scaling relationships between the characteristics of a galaxy and the characteristics of its globular star cluster population.
