Abaasy In the mythology of the Sakha [Yakut] people of Yakutia, Siberia, the Abaasy are demons who occupy the lower level of the universe, known as the “kingdom of darkness.” According to legend, they are the spirits of long-deceased individuals, who lurk in deserted places and near graves, awaiting the next opportunity to cause destruction. 8. Phobetor Phobetor, the god of nightmares, is from a group of black-winged daemons of Greek mythology known as the Oneiroi, who personify dreams. Mamu Mamu, whose name translates to “monster,” are cannibalistic, soul-destroying spirits of Aboriginal folklore of the eastern part of Australia’s Western Desert. They possess big, bulging eyes and sharp fangs that are capable of ripping their victims’ flesh off with ease. 3. Poreskoro In Romani Gypsy folklore, Poreskoro is a demon of disease who was the ninth child born to Queen Ana of the Keshalyi [fairies], the enslaved wife of the King of the Loçolico [demons]. Batibat Batibats are folkloric female demons of the Ilocanos, an ethnolinguistic group in the Philippines.
