Formula Rossa Very few people get to experience the adrenaline of a Formula One driver as they tear down the track at 230 miles per hour. This roller coaster, known as Formula Rossa, is located at Ferrari World Park at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. This coaster has one very simple and yet very epic goal. Mainly, to deliver to the people on it the feeling of being in a Ferrari while going at its max speed...in a roller coaster type setting. 10. Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom A classic style of theme park ride that definitely requires courage are the "drop" rides. You know what kind of ride I'm talking about, where you're strapped into a chair, and then you slowly rise up into the air, higher and higher until eventually you stop and see the view...before dropping back down at blinding speed. 9. Giant Canyon Swing This pendulum swing is quite the thrillride! Located at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, at first glance, everything seems normal. And then, you'll see the Giant Canyon Swing. Interestingly enough, this ride only seats 4 people, and the maximum weight cannot exceed 800 pounds. 8. Batman:The Ride To be fair, there is more than one "Batman: The Ride" roller coaster in the world. That's because of deals made with DC Comics and Warner Bros. Just in the Six Flags franchise there are seven different parks with this roller coaster. The original one though, was made in Six Flags Great America in 1992 (after the success of the popular Tim Burton Batman film) and then was put in Six Flags St. Louis, Six Flags Fiesta Texas and more. 7. Takabisha The Takabisha roller coaster in Japan inside Fuji-Q Highland park, prides itself on its ability to surprise. It looks kind of ok, but it is no joke. It is the steepest roller coaster in the world, approved by Guinness World Records. It seats 8 people and starts with an inward drop at 121 degrees, speeds through a long, pitch black tunnel, and then launches into corkscrews, banana rolls, and 180 degree turns. It also has points where you're flying through the air at over 100 miles per hour! 6. Fury 325 Usually, you would not think of the word "psychology" when you think about roller coasters, but when it comes to the Fury 325 at Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina, that is honestly what was the inspiration for part of what the roller coaster is about. This comes right from designer Rob Decker, who stated in an interview once that the construction of it was meant to give you various feelings and emotions from the moment that you step into the park. 5. Montu Montu is not your typical roller coaster, in fact, it's an inverted roller coaster that can be found at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida. This ride is called "Florida's favorite inverted roller coaster", and has many things that will entice people to ride it if you can gather the nerve. When it opened in 1996, it was the world’s fastest and tallest roller coaster (but that title has now gone to the Alpengeist at a sister park Busch Gardens Williamsburg. 4. Millennium Force If you're looking for thrills, chills, and fast speeds, head to Cedar Point Park and ride the Millennium Force. Located in Sandusky, Ohio, Millennium Force was the first "giga coaster" in the world and changed coaster history forever!! When it opened in the year 2000, it was the tallest roller coaster at over 300 feet and had the longest drop and the fastest speed at 93 mph. 3. Superman Ultimate Flight Ride Located in three Six Flags locations: Great America, Over Georgia, and Grand Adventures, the Superman: Ultimate Flight ride is another in a long line of atypical roller coasters, as well as one that pays tribute to legendary superheroes. Now, usually, these kinds of rides, including Batman the Ride, has you in a somewhat standard sitting position, even if it's with your feet dangling out into the open air. 2. Top Thrill Dragster The Top Thrill Dragster is one of the fastest roller coasters in the world. Found in the classic and popular Cedar Point in Ohio, it was the first full-circuit roller coaster to exceed 400 feet in height and was the tallest roller coaster in the world for a time! Before it got surpassed by number 1, which I’ll tell you about in a bit. #rollercoaster #thempark #originsexplained #katrina
