Flying Tiger Line Flight 739 On March 14, 1962, a Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation Propliner departed from Travis Air Force Base in California with 93 US Army Rangers, three South Vietnamese soldiers, and nine civilian flight crew members aboard. Charter flight 739 was operated by Flying Tiger Line on behalf of the Military Air Transport Service. 7. The Zanetti Ghost Train On July 14, 1911, three newly-built Zanetti train cars carrying 100 passengers and six crew members departed from Rome, Italy. The first anticipated landmark was a recently constructed, one-kilometer-long tunnel that cut through the Lombard mountains. The train entered, but never exited, the tunnel. 6. Vanishing Truck & Trailer One night in 2012, an Australian man known only as “Mike” met with a friend in the Melbourne suburb of Clayton. He headed home around midnight. The Luanda 727 On May 25, 2003, a decommissioned Boeing 727-223 aircraft began taxiing erratically down the runway at Quatro de Fevereiro Airport in Luanda, Angola, with its lights and transponder off and no communication between its operators and air traffic control. It took off without clearance, headed southwest toward the Atlantic Ocean, and was never seen again. 3. Wagon 107462 In November 2014, a company called Indian Potash Limited booked a cargo train parcel to transport compost from Andhra Pradesh to Uttar Pradesh. When the wagon failed to reach its destination, the owner of its contents contacted the railways. However, the public transporter was unable to track down the coach. 2. SS Baychimo After a brief stint as a German trading vessel and being given to Great Britain as a World War I reparation, the SS Baychimo fell under the ownership of the Hudson Bay Company. It voyaged regularly across the Atlantic between Scotland and Canada, trading with Inuit tribes. 1. Disappearing Silver Car The phenomenon of cars vanishing into thin air seems surprisingly common, as evidenced by the tales of various Reddit users. One user, who goes by “pixelpants,” noticed a silver car with a female driver pull into their driveway as he or she was putting dishes away.
