And I don’t know a nice way to say this, but, you can’t really be an astronaut. Like, none of you. Seriously! Now wait! I’m not being mean, I’m just saying that this is the message reiterated by many tests and countless interviews. So NASA doesn’t really want you to know this but the competition to actually be selected as an astronaut is as fierce as any other job in the world. Honestly, it’s probably more fierce, and that’s the real reason behind the suggestion that it isn’t a logical occupation for you to pursue. In fact, you have a better chance at playing in the nfl, nba or mlb before you’ll get the chance to fly out to space. According to some studies, you have about a 0.8% chance of being selected for this prestigious job… and here’s the thing, your chances of being clinically depressed once you get it go through the roof! 9 Missing Tapes Perhaps the most memorable and popular space mission to date is Apollo 11, you know, the event that landed Americans Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldren on the moon. Supposedly, anyway. Anyone who knows anything about space knows the story about the dramatic space race to the moon, and how it had finally come to a conclusion – or so some people thought. The first steps were broadcast on that big white rock in the sky were broadcast on live television, meaning millions of people around the world watched it in real time. However, it was discovered in the early 2000s that the tapes had just suddenly – disappeared. Forever. How it that even possible? Isn’t it weird that NASA, one of the most funded and supposedly well guarded facilities on the planet could have something so important just disappear? Many different theories are out there as to what actually happened with the tapes, but none have been proven to be true without some stigma, or shadow of a doubt. 8 Life on Mars? Really? Keeping things moving right along today, this next clip explores something that many experts – and even many non-experts, because I’m on of those people that believe it and trust me I am absolutely, certainly NOT an expert – unless we’re talking about playing Madden on PS4. An undisclosed former NASA employee, let’s just call her Jackie, supposedly leaked some very big secrets back in 2014. Jackie was an employee working on the 1979 Viking Mars Rover. Her claim was that while the rover was on mars, 2 humanoid beings in white suits approached the machine. The story goes that her and her fellow employees were shocked, and went upstairs to tell their bosses what they’d discovered. The Apollo 11 mission is one of the missions challenged most by conspiracy theorists, and for good reason. On top of some people saying that the actual moon landing was filmed in a desert in Nevada instead of actually on the moon – in order to get the leg up on the international space race, of course – a bunch point to Neil Armstrong’s spacesuit as evidence to why the moon landing must have been a hoax. Armstrong’s suit is now in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
