Alright folks you’re gonna want to go ahead and strap it in because today’s episode – I’m warning you – is about to get real weird. Yeah, real weird. So let’s start it off right here with a perfect question for an episode about scientific mysteries and discoveries… alright, are you ready? How man teeth do you think that a snail has? Yeah, this guy – a snail! How many teeth do they have? Well if you guessed anywhere from 14,000 to 20,000 – then you were absolutely right! Yeah, these little slippery sons of snails have this insane amount of teeth because because they need them to eat – much like the rest of us. What’s interesting though is that there multitude of rows of teeth – up to 33 in some cases, all point inward, as if to assist the snail in grasping it’s delicate snack. Also, they’re teeth continuously fall out over time, and every 4-6 weeks there is a new row that grows in near the back. 9 How Many Smells Can You Smell? Continuing with the theme of asking you a question with the title, for this next one we won’t mess around. Tell me, how many different smells do you think you can smell? Wait, I guess that doesn’t really make sense when you think about it… get it, scents? Anyway to ask this question in a more specific manner – how many different scents do you think the human nose can remember? Well, according to scientists and experts the answer is up to around 50,000! Yeah, 50,000! Another fun fact about the human anatomy – the human ear can differentiate between millions of different sounds, and the human eye – not to be left out – can decipher thousands of different colors! When you think about it, the human body is a pretty remarkable piece of art! 8 Immortal Sea Creatures Ok so moving right along on today’s list, this next clip is pretty special – because it tells the tale of the only known living organism that is actually – drumroll please – immortal. Yeah we’ve all heard the stories and watched the movies of the undying vampires and zombies – or the miraculous immortal Greek gods that hogged all of the story time centuries ago. But today, on earth right now – well, deep in the water somewhere to be exact – is another living creature that is actually considered to be immortal. We’re talking about the Turritopsis Dohrnii, or what’s more popularly known as the immortal jellyfish. Originally discovered all the way back in the 1880s in the Mediterranean sea – this tiny, almost transparent jellyfish is quite the little creature. 7 The Blue Whale Moving things right along – these next fun scientific facts come from another sea residing creature – and one that comes with some pretty big characteristics to wrap your head around. Check this out – the blue whale is – what most people don’t know – the largest living animal to ever grace the globe. Yeah, even bigger than the largest known dinosaur. Plus, the heart of the blue whale is so incredibly large, that a human being can swim through the arteries and the veins without any difficulty! Now that’s pretty insane considering the blue whale actually swims around all day in the oceans! And for as large as the blue whale is, it’s mouth actually can’t even open up that wide – no wider than a beach ball – and I don’t know about you, but I find that hilarious! But can you imagine doing some deep sea diving – perhaps your on a cruise in the middle of nothing but ocean – and you see a blue whale up close! I’m not sure what you would do – but I’m out.
