Valley Of The Golden Mummies Just south of Cairo there is an archaeological site known as Bawit. In 1994, it earned its stripes as one of the most astonishing archeological landmarks in Egyptian history. Researchers discovered a two-square-mile necropolis that is home to a large number of tombs. 9. Communal Tombs For Priests In the Tuna El-Gabal site of Minya, archaeologists recently discovered one of the first Egyptian archaeological discoveries of 2020; a communal tomb that was intended for high priests, the head of the religious caste in ancient Egypt. This necropolis is called “Khumun”,and it was dedicated to the god Djehuty, or Thoth, who represented knowledge, magic, writing, and the moon for ancient Egyptians. 8. Hatshepsut’s Mummy The Valley of the Kings is where archaeologist Howard Carter discovered King Tut’s tomb in 1920. But before that, in 1903, he had found a tomb and opened it. Inside were mummified geese and partially disturbed remains of two women laying side by side. The tomb was not royal so the mummies were put away and stored for many years. 7. Temple of Bastet Cats are some of the most beloved creatures on earth. But as much as you love cats, it’s a safe bet that Egyptians loved them even more. Archaeologists recently discovered a temple devoted entirely to the cat deity Bastet in the Kom el-Dekkah region of Alexandria. It is a remnant of the Ptolemaic dynasty in Egypt which ruled in the area 305 to 30 BC until Octavian defeated Cleopatra, the last member of the Ptolemaic dynasty. 6. Valley of the Kings The Valley of the Kings is one of the most famous cemeteries in all of Egypt, containing King Tut’s coffin and a number of other members of ancient royalty. In 2019, the Valley of the Kings became even more interesting; archeologists uncovered the mummified remains of two women next to the resting place of Hatshepsut, the formidable pharaoh. 5. Black Sarcophagus There’s yet another recent Alexandrian discovery that had the archaeological world rubbing its hands together in anticipation. In 2018, archeologists in the Sidi Gaber area of Alexandria discovered a granite sarcophagus that is entirely black. 4. World’s Oldest Cheese Cheese lovers of the world, unite! Cheese is one thing that can bring us all together. And if you’re of an adventurous nature, maybe you’d be interested in trying some aged cheese. But this cheese is probably a little too aged for even your liking. This 3,200 year old wheel of cheese was found in mayor Ptahmes’ tomb, but in 2018 it was discovered that it is full of bacteria that can cause the potentially fatal disease brucellosis, caused by unpasteurised dairy. 3. Tomb of Khuwy In Saqqara, Egypt, archaeologists recently discovered the mummy of Khuwy, a highly decorated official under the reign of pharaoh Djedkar Isesi. This means that Khuwy’s remains are 4,400 years old. But it appears that time has not done a great deal of damage. (However, there was another tomb found nearby which had been ransacked long ago, making this tomb a lucky find for archaeologists.) 2. Cachette Of The Priests Archaeologists were rightly stunned by what they found at ‘El-Assasif’, an ancient necropolis near Luxor, Egypt. They found the mummified remains of 30 people locked inside of tightly closed coffins, estimated to be around 3,000 years old. It was denominated a “Cachette”, which means a place where things were hidden away. The coffins were arranged in two layers. 1. Pyramid Mystery Recently, archaeologists discovered something strange beside a 4,600 year old pyramid; the ancient remains of a 13 year old girl in a squatting position inside of her otherwise empty tomb. No one knows when she was buried, but they found out about her age by looking at her skeleton. #mysterious #amazing #recent #discoveries #egypt #archaeology #pyramids #findings #originsexplained #top10

Hi, it’s Katrina! From animals hiding in plain sight to creative military strategies, here are 12 of the world’s most insane camouflage to evade detection by the enemy! Owls Owls are some of the most effective nocturnal predators with their virtually silent wings, powerful eyesight, and sharpened talons to grab their unsuspecting prey. During the day, however, they need to stay out of harm's way- and to do this they use very effective camouflage. 11. Leaf-Tailed Gecko The 14 members of the leaf-tailed gecko genus possess an uncanny ability to blend in with, as you can probably guess, leaves. Endemic to Madagascar, these tiny lizards are hard to spot not only because of their amazing ability to blend in with their surroundings, but also because they’re nocturnal, emerging to hunt only at nighttime. 9. Household Cavalry Camouflage The Household Cavalry of the British Army is made up of its two most senior regiments. Their job is to protect the Queen and to publicly represent the British military both at home and abroad. 8. Buff-Tip Moth The buff-tip moth (Phalera bucephala) is a common, medium-sized moth species that is found throughout Europe and Asia, all the way to Eastern Siberia. It can normally be seen from May to July -- if you’re able to spot one, that is. This species is nocturnal, like most moths, and it spends its days resting, blending in seamlessly with the birch twigs it perches itself on, thanks to its coloring and the way it sits with its wings against its body. 7. Island Camouflage Following the Battle of the Java Sea in 1942, the last standing Dutch warship, the HNLMS Abraham Crijnssen, had to somehow flee to Australia undetected, after the three ships it planned to travel with were wrecked. 5. Tasseled Anglerfish The Tasseled Anglerfish is common in the reefs around Australia. You can stare at images of this fish for ages without spotting it, its camouflage is so good in between the sponges and the seaweed- but once you spot its eye, you can just about make out the shape of the fish. 4. Pygmy Seahorse Pygmy seahorses are hard to spot in the first place because of how tiny they are. Measuring just 0.8 inches (2 cm) long on average, they are smaller than a paperclip, and they’re so clever at hiding themselves, scientists were unaware that pygmy seahorses existed until they accidentally discovered one in 1969 while examining the coral they live in. 2. Gray Treefrog The gray treefrog (Dryophytes versicolor) is a small species that grows to just one-and-a-half to two inches (3.8-5 cm) long and is endemic to the eastern U.S. and southeastern Canada. Its scientific name owes to its ability to change its color from gray to brown and green for camouflage purposes, depending on its surroundings. 1. Octopus The octopus is arguably by far the most intelligent creature that uses camouflage! They can easily change color and use it as a very advanced tool. Unlike other animals whose camouflage comes from constant colorations, an Octopus can change its color depending on its needs. #camouflage #nature #world #amazing #hidden #blending #environment #strategy #originsexplained #top10

Hi everybody! From a poor caged creature, to a lost bomb, here are eleven of the strangest and mysterious things found by divers. Follow us on instagram! https://www.instagram.com/katrinaexplained/ Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Check out these videos you might like: Unbelievable Animals SAVING Other Animals! 🐯https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxehUWvMr38 LARGEST Animals Ever Discovered! 🐙https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Yj7F_tPYsU Wild Animals That SAVED Human Lives! 🐻https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mllqeVSsIl0 11. The Caesarea Treasure In February of 2015, a diver was swimming in the waters off the coast of the Israeli port town of Caesarea when he noticed something glimmering in the sand below. At first thinking it was a piece of trash that had been stirred up in the storm the night before, he swam down to retrieve it, but this was no piece of foil… it was a gold coin with Arabic script written on both sides. 10. Caged Dugong Divers heading out to explore never know what they might find. These divers were in for a shock when they went out to investigate the beautiful waters of Indonesia. However, instead of enjoying sea life in its natural habitat they were appalled to find a set of cages below the water. 9. Pyrosome Pyrosomes are a kind of tunicate, or sea squirt, that float freely in the ocean. They are made out of thousands of little clones called zooids and can grow up to 60 feet long, although they are hollow on the inside. Every clone is an animal unto itself and could live independently of the larger organism if given the chance, although each contributes to the larger entities life sustenance. 8. Elongated Skulls Cenotes are sinkholes where the ceiling has collapsed to reveal a diving or swimming hole. Now they are well-known tourist attractions, but they were sacred to the Maya who had a very mysterious and complex relationship with them. These sinkholes provided fresh water to the inhabitants, but some were believed to be portals to the dark and scary underworld. 7. Ancient Sin City The long-lost Roman city of Baia used to be a partying hub. Indeed, some have called it the Las Vegas of Rome. Alas, all that is left of Baia are its remains. But that doesn’t make these remains any less jarring – in fact, divers have been able to explore these remains deep below the ocean’s waters themselves. 5. Baltic Sea Anomaly In the summer of 2011, Swedish divers searching for treasure as part of the Ocean X team, were quite surprised when they encountered a mysterious object at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The sonar image that they took of the object is blurry, but evocative; it depicts a circular formation about 200 ft in diameter which appears to include various ramps and staircases, structures that seem unlikely to have been formed naturally. 4.Animal Bones Divers and scientists hit the jackpot when they found a treasure trove of prehistoric bones in an underwater cave in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Bones don’t preserve very well in tropical environments, so life in the Late Pleistocene in Central America has many gaps. 3. Haunting Sculpture This creepy underwater sculpture is made to warn us of future eco disasters. Made to be visited by divers, it is an underwater experience like no other. Located on the Atlantic seabed off the coast of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, this spooky pile of humans is actually a work of art, found in the Museo Atlantico. 2. Silfra Crack The Silfra crack is not just a crack in the sidewalk. Located in the Atlantic rift, which forms the line that divides the European and American continents, the term ‘crack’ is not figurative either. It is a giant rift in the Earth where the continental land masses meet. 1. Hidden Underwater River There are a lot of incredible things in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula! Among the many mysterious and beautiful cenotes, you should consider taking a peek at the Cenote Angelita (meaning ‘Little Angel’), one of the most mesmerizing dives in the entire world. #mysterious #recent #discoveries #divers #underwater #unexplained #amazing #originsexplained #top10
