Heaviest element found yet in alien planet atmosphere detected by Very Large Telescope

Astronomers using the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope have discovered the element barium in the atmospheres of gas giants WASP-76 b and WASP-121 b. It's the heaviest element found yet in an exoplanet atmosphere. Credit: ESO
